My youngest son was a competitive freestyle skier.  I will never forget his first ever event, honestly I had no idea what he was joining.  All I knew was it was an opportunity to spend more time on the mountains I loved.

Yikes, his first freestyle event, parents yelled with their cow bells ringing  "GO BIG OR GO HOME"  And there I saw it for the first time: bump, bump, and more bumps with incredible jumps and flips.  Alot of lessons could be learned from freestyle skiing.

Go BIG or Go Home is the thrill of giving it your all and knowing it's ok if you have a yardsale as long as you went big!

Tangerine Bikini was created in my
Ruminations Rising Series.
There comes that moment when you know just who you. So you walk with confidence, take chances and live out loud with bold moves.
Tangerine Bikini was inspired by the moment I saw my 60 year old grandmother, Lola appear at the beach in a tangerine bikini.  And well if you knew Lola, it was totally out of character, but hmmm was it?!
Live bold, take chances, why not!

Jean Nate was created in my
Ruminations Rising Series.
Oh you know that scent, yep Lola's favorite.
Scents have that way of transforming us back to the first time we smelled it.  For me Jean Nate took took me to my Grand Mother's bathroom.  Bubble bath's as a child, in her purple bathroom.  Next it was that fluffy powder pouf, I felt like the world stopped every time.  Oh the layers of memories might have been muted by the scent and powder, but they are still grand and vibrant.

Have you ever danced with lemons?
Here's your opportunity, no juggling skills required.

This painting brings joy, laughter and warmth to your space.
I painted this in August 2020. I danced barefoot in my studio, windows open, music on high. The sun was hot, the sky was blue but our world had a buzz swirling. Layers built, texture is flip and the color lemon was always on my mind.

Obsessed with carbs? Me too!

Something about good Italian crusty bread. I'm Italian and I love bread. The pandemic had me baking bread. The feel of the dough, the texture it has is so satisfying.

I painted this in late fall 2020. I was quarantined, baking bread, raking leaves and drinking wine. Crust seemed to fit!

This painting was created in the fall of 2020. My emotions were on a short string. Coffee was flowing daily in my studio. Americans were losing faith in government. Most Americans were preoccupied by fall leaves and pumpkin spice. Yet social injustice was escalating.
Less pumpkin spice and more social justice has flashes of everyday joy with reminders of what work needs to be done.

Quarantine, Covid Pandemic and questionable government decisions: TENSION WAS HIGH!

This painting was created in the height of the first spike of the pandemic March 2020. I was struggling with worry, fear, anxiety and flat out anger. Quilts are a symbol of comfort. I wanted this quilt to bring some hope to our struggle.

Relive the joys of spring.
Look at that POP!

I painted this in the spring of 2020. Wild flowers were starting to bloom and new grass sprouting. Energy was high and tensions were insurmountable. Yet, I wanted to keep this painting upbeat while feeling puzzled by the pandemic.

Puzzled with a pop and some emotion to spare.

Satin, the shine of the fabric.  The texture with slight flaws.
That is just what the snow felt like the winter of 2019.
I painted Satin in the deep of winter 2019. The snow was deep and it was cold. So cold you felt your every breath deep into your belly. The light on the fresh snowfall had me captivated. Satin of winter 2019 had my heart full of imagination.

The heat of red in the fall air.
It's hard to explain.
We all love it yet change is hard.

Something about fall: the leaves, the cold air moving in and a new academic year. It's always a mix of emotions and many times I feel like I'm falling just like the leaves.  Falling has warmth, struggle, light and movement.

After the death of George Floyd I knew I had to find my voice.  In a video to my followers on social media I asked them to support Black Lives Matter, those standing up and to help make change. Next I asked them to send me words that followed my lead.
My canvas started with only eight words. The next day my social media blew up with followers sending me words, phases, articles, emotions and incredible conversation.  This artwork had over 100 people contributing to this conversation, one voice together.

The heat goes on...

I love music and it moves my soul daily. The beat of the drum, barefoot and paint everywhere. Labor day weekend I had a heavy heart for American workers. So I did what I do best, turned up the tunes, poured a tequila and painted. The heat goes on...

Celebration of 100 years of the 19th Amendment, women's right to vote. I spent much of this year researching the women's right to vote. Women from across the country gave incredible heart and tears to make this happen.
The layers of paint represent the women's suffrage. And to all the women in the 2020 elections YOU ARE MY HEROS!
